SHS Girls The Sundance girls' basketball team opened the new year with a bang, taking four wins in four games throughout the 2A East Challenge, which was held in Sundance this past weekend. Going against the southeastern half of the 2A conference, the Lady Bulldogs were up against Burns, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Lusk and Pine Bluffs. SHS Girls The Lady Bulldogs crossed state lines last weekend to participate in the Stateline Shootout with Belle Fourche, Lead-Deadwood and Newcastle. In this competition, the four teams played a round-robin matchup. The Lady Bulldogs opened the Shootout with a 43-31 victory over the Newcastle Dogies on Thursday evening. The Bulldog wrestlers opened their season at the Lusk Invitational this past weekend. Four Bulldog grapplers placed in the top five throughout the competition. Lyman Halverson and Shyla Shoun finished in third place. Halverson won with a 9-2 decision in the 120 weight class and Shoun took her victory with a fall over Hallie Fuller from Lingle-Fort Laramie in the 140 weight class. SHS Boys The Sundance boys’ basketball team opened their 2023-24 season in Upton this past weekend, taking part in the Upton Classic. The Sundance Bulldogs went up against three 1A teams over the course of the two days. On Friday, the Bulldogs were paired with Riverside and easily walked away with a 50-23 victory over the Rebels. The Sundance volleyball team closed out their regular season hosting the number one ranked, Big Horn Rams last Friday night. It was an exciting weekend for the Bulldog golfers as Savanah Peterson won the 2A State Golf Championship with a first hole playoff against Upton's Ciarra Moore.
