Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884
The Upton-Sundance Patriots hit the road this past week, traveling to Wheatland for another fierce battle. Both teams came into the match up with a 2-2 conference record; it was the Wheatland Bulldogs, however, that walked away with the 39-14 conference win.
The opening quarter of play resulted in a 0-0 deadlock as both teams hoped for movement to the end zone but each side came up short. The Bulldogs snapped the streak within the second quarter, scoring twice and taking a 14-0 lead into the halftime break.
The US Patriots found their way onto the scoreboard in the third quarter with quarterback Keaton Mills rushing his way into the end zone and adding six to the scoreboard. The Bulldogs, however, were able to add two more scores, and hold onto a 26-6 lead into the fourth.
As the fourth quarter played out, the Patriot offense scored one more time with Keaton Mills connecting with Chase Mills for a 48-yard touchdown run. Unfortunately, the Patriots could not stop the impressive Bulldog offense, which was able to add 13 more points to the scoreboard and take a 39-14 win for the night.
The Patriots will play host to the Torrington Trailblazers on Friday night, in Sundance, at Croell Field. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
