Despite efforts from city staff to dispute the results of the 2020 national census, it seems that Sundance is stuck with a population count that officials don't believe is correct. "I don't think we're going to get the change," said Clerk Treasurer Kathy Lenz. Honorable Matthew F.G. Castano, familiar to the community already as Circuit Court Judge for the Sixth Judicial District, has been appointed to serve as District Court Judge for Crook, Weston and Campbell counties. Monitoring the many special districts that are active within the county is becoming an increasing burden, according to County Clerk Linda Fritz. Updated requirements at the facility to which Sundance takes its recyclables has once again led to changes in how citizens are asked to separate their trash. Catherine Pickett joined her grandsons, brothers and parents in heaven on January 29, 2022, at the age of 97 of natural causes. A private service has been held in Utah and there will be a tribute in Navajoland in June. Inspiration came in a small bundle to Nelson "Shorty" and Opal (Sheldon) Pickett on July 17, 1924, in Upton, Wyoming. Catherine was the eldest of eleven children and was born legally blind. This year’s audit for the City of Sundance was both clear of red flags and “quieter” than usual, said Paul Stille of Leo Riley & Associates, who also warned the city council that, “That’s going to change next year.” With the currently-in-progress project to replace the Sundance Kid water tank making use of Abandoned Mine Lands funding, the city will tip over the limit of $750,000 in federal money spent. The county commissioners kick-started the process last week of altering a public road near Sundance. Two deaths linked to Fentanyl GILLETTE (WNE) — Fentanyl played a part in two overdose deaths within ten days of each other in December and January. On Dec. 30, 2021, Dustin Patten, 38 was found by a family member in his apartment in the 700 block of Express Drive, said Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem.
