Runoff election push returns after setback

CASPER —The effort to bring runoff elections to Wyoming’s primaries has been revived. 

Last year, a legislative committee failed to advance legislation that would institute runoff elections if no one candidate received more than 50% of the vote. 

On Monday, Rep. Chip Neiman, R-Hulett, filed his own bill and constitutional amendment that would do just that. If successful, the representative’s runoff election bill would go into effect in 2023 — in time for the 2024 statewide elections.
