In the American Legion boxing bout at Gillette Saturday night, Stonewall Jackson lost his second contest with Kid Stanley of the Burlington. Jackson was truck driver for the highway department at Sundance last summer.

At the meeting of the Council Monday evening Mayor Roberts tendered his resignation to the councilmen, his reason for such action being that his duties as receiver of land office will soon claim his time at Newcastle. After accepting the resignation the council unanimously elected Edwin Rounds to fill the vacancy. The retiring mayor first took the oath of office in June, 1911, and has held the chair continuously to this time with the exception of one year, when H.G. Schloredt was elected mayor.

The following article recently appeared in an Omaha paper: "A smiling, freckle-faced youth from the grasslands of Wyoming Tuesday showed Iowa and Nebraska hog raising experts that producing fine cornfed animals is not a Midwestern process exclusively. The youngster, Warren Evans, 17, of Oshoto, Tuesday watched his 76 hogs sell at the Omaha market top of $28. They averaged 233 pounds. Warren and his brother, Merrill, raised 125 swine on the ranch of their father, Bert Evans, a cattle and sheep feeder."

The Moorcroft City Council, in a petition that will be mailed to Governor Lester C. Hunt, is asking that the Governor take action that will assure the building of the proposed new section of highway 14 over the Keyhole Dam, which will soon be under construction. The group maintains that the road routed this way will be more scenic and just as feasible as other proposed routes. The Sundance Commercial Club has already favored the building of the road over the dam and favors making the road Y east of Moorcroft.
