    Federal charges against Charles Flint of Sundance have been filed in U.S. District Court in Cheyenne. A federal arrest warrant was issued by the U.S. Marshal’s Office on May 19. “As a result, the State believes that the federal system is better equipped to address these charges and to impose an appropriate sentence,” states a motion filed by Deputy Crook County and Prosecuting Attorney Jeani Stone. Coach Williamson in conjunction with the Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) and many volunteers hosted a day filled with fun for the students and staff.     In recognition of May being Hepatitis Awareness Month, Crook County values the importance of getting screened, so Crook County Public Health is extending free hepatitis C rapid testing through the month of June. Hepatitis C is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis C virus. Millions of Americans have hepatitis C, and many are unaware of it due to having no symptoms.     The Public Health Emergency for COVID-19 officially ended on May 11, much to the relief of Crook County Medical District. As the emergency period ended, so too did the requirements placed on the district, said CEO Micki Lyons last week.   • Salmonella outbreak linked to backyard poultry

    An outbreak of salmonella has so far spread to 31 states, including Wyoming, and is believed to be associated with contact with backyard poultry, such as chicken and ducks. For far, the Centers for Disease Control have reported 104 illnesses from the outbreak, including 19 that lead to hospitalization. No deaths have been recorded so far. Interviews with 69 of the patients revealed that 70% had contact with backyard poultry, and 22% of those who had information available reported eating eggs from backyard poultry.
