The thin man

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord – 1 Cor. 15:58

As many know and many more do not, at the end of June 2023 my family and I will be moving from Sundance to the city of Sedalia, Missouri. I was brought to this beautiful town by divine intervention and will leave in the same way.

The past fourteen-plus years have been filled with countless people and opportunities, tragic, miraculous but in the end, good. I was taught by my earthly father and refined by my heavenly One to always leave a work better than what you found. In my time spent in Sundance I hope I did, although at I times, I found myself living as a “thin man.”

A “thin man” is one who gives his all and then some. Wishing and praying for more,

yet realistically knowing nothing is left. It is humanity meeting and being overtaken by the sufficiency of God. A living and learning that where you end, He begins.

I found it was uncovered in the countless cups of coffee covered in prayer, thousands of miles traveled to visit the hopeless, the confined, the dying, the dead and yet seeing life

arise when all appeared lost. It is both near and far. In you and others.

A thin man is one who is stretched, worn and beat inside as well as out. It is at the same time the most blessed place to be and the most difficult. It is a privileged position of learning, leaning and hoping. It is the emptying and refilling of the Holy Spirit learned in maintaining and sustaining a delicate balance to the living in and not dying in the process.

The town of Sundance, Wyoming has played a huge part in my life and that will not end with my leaving. It is filled with people, places and huge opportunities that God brought me to and through that will always be a part of me.

At times I may have ministered on a thinner capacity, but know that what I gave was all I had, and I pray that it was enough. I am learning that more is not always the best and less is often just what is needed.

Be willing to learn, always trust and obey God and you will be refilled in due time.

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know – Jer. 33:3

Standing,

Pastor Dave
