Cold weather doesn't slow down basketball

Girls

The Lady Bulldogs faced a demanding week with three games and the onset of chilly weather. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs played host to the Hulett Red Devils. Dominating the game from the start, Sundance secured a commanding 44-15 win.

The tides turned for the Bulldogs as they were on the road to Harding County to face the Ranchers on Thursday evening. Holding the Bulldogs to single-digit scoring throughout each quarter of play, the Ranchers sent the Sundance team home with a 69-24 loss.

It was subzero temperatures on Saturday as the Hill City Rangers came to town. The Rangers initiated an aggressive full-court press from the start, pushing the Bulldogs into a fast-paced game. Struggling in the second quarter, the Bulldogs faced a scoring drought, putting up only two points for the quarter and falling behind the Rangers 9-25 at halftime.

Despite a spirited comeback attempt in the third quarter, the Bulldogs could not close the gap and the Rangers would go on to take a 50-35 victory on the chilly afternoon.

The Lady Bulldogs will start conference play this week as they host the Wright Lady Panthers on Friday and travel to face the Big Horn Lady Rams on Saturday.

Boys

It was a relatively lighter week for the Bulldog boys' basketball team, who hosted the Hulett Red Devils on Tuesday and the Hill City Rangers on Saturday. The game against the Red Devils saw a closely contested first half, with the Bulldogs holding a narrow 29-22 lead at halftime.

The Bulldogs then surged ahead with a 19-0 run to start the third quarter, taking the momentum for the game as well as the overall 70-51 victory.

Saturday's matchup against the Hill City Rangers presented a different challenge for the Bulldogs. Confronted with an aggressive defense, the Bulldogs struggled to generate points, finding themselves trailing 10-29 at the half.

The relentless defensive play by the Rangers continued to create difficulties for the Bulldogs throughout the second half of play as they fell 25-50 for the game.

The Bulldogs will open their conference play at home, on Friday, hosting the Wright Panthers. The team will then travel to Big Horn to face the Rams on Saturday.
