Good showing at Upton

The Sundance Bulldog track team took advantage of the nice weather and participated in the Mick Tonkel Fly High Classic in Upton last Friday. The girls’ team dominated the 400 meter run with four Bulldogs placing in the top five.

Maddison Neiman took top honors with a time of 1:05.02, teammate Halyn Cooney was right on her tail finishing in second with a time of 1:05.72. Rylie and Karly Marchant were close behind, finishing 4th and 5th respectively.

For the field events, Jaylin Mills took the top spot in discus throwing 106-09. 

On the boys’ side, Ryder Downey took first place in the 800 meter run and a close second in the 400 meter race. The 4x400 relay, composed of Ryder Downey, Parker Skeens, Catch Downey and Jake Schommer, finished in first place with a time of 3:47.18.

In the field events, Jake Schommer also placed second in the high jump with a jump of 6-02, prequalifying him for the state track and field.

The Bulldog athletes will have two meets this week as they compete in Wright on Tuesday and Douglas on Friday.
