Boys finish regular season with two more wins

The Sundance boys' basketball team added two more wins to their record as the regular season drew to a close this past weekend. The Sundance team traveled to Moorcroft on Friday for their final conference matchup.

The Bulldogs set the pace for the night jumping out to a 20-14 lead in the first half of play. The Wolves stayed close in the second half but were unable to overtake the Bulldogs. Gunner McLaughlin led the Bulldogs with a double double for the night, putting up 22 points and securing 12 rebounds in the 51-42 victory.

Saturday afternoon the Sundance boys' basketball team played their final home game for the season, going up against the Hulett Red Devils. It was an exciting first half of play as the teams matched each other basket for basket.

Senior Bulldog Nate Schommer got the scoring started for the Bulldogs, banking in a three-point shot and sending the crowd into a frenzy. Tyler Kromarek had the answer for the Red Devils as he knocked down a few three pointers of his own throughout the first half of play. T

he Bulldogs began to secure their momentum in the final minutes of the first half as Levi Rudloff and Gunner McLaughlin knocked down their free throws, allowing the Bulldogs to take a 35-33 lead into the break. The Bulldogs began to put some separation between themselves and the Red Devils throughout the third quarter, outscoring Hulett 17-4 and creating a gap that could not be closed.

In the end, the Bulldogs took a 64-49 victory over the Red Devils. 

Sundance ended their regular season with a 12-10 overall and 3-5 conference record. They will travel to Pine Bluffs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to partake in the 2A East Regional tournament.

The Bulldogs enter the tournament as the number four seed and will take on the number one team, Pine Bluffs on Thursday, in Pine Bluffs at 7 p.m.

Coach Olson commented on the upcoming regional tournament play, "We open with Pine Bluffs who is the number one team in the state, we're excited to play against a high-level team and elevate our game to match. It should be a fun weekend with a lot of great basketball played."

Lady Bulldogs notch another win

The regular season drew to a close for the Sundance lady basketball team this past weekend as they faced the Moorcroft Wolves in a conference matchup and the Hulett Red Devils.

Going against the number one team in the conference on Friday night, the Lady Bulldogs faced off against the Moorcroft Lady Wolves. Moorcroft jumped out to a quick lead behind the triple threat scoring of Talissa Fishback, Kyanna Petz and Kailee Gill.

The Lady Bulldogs worked their magic on the inside as Bailey Hofland chipped in 14 points for the night, but it was no match, as the Lady Wolves took a 53-38 conference victory over the Sundance Lady Bulldogs. 

The Lady Bulldogs rounded out their regular season with a non-conference matchup, facing the Hulett Lady Red Devils on Saturday afternoon. The score remained close throughout the first half of play with Sundance holding a slight advantage, 14-13, going into the halftime break.

The Lady Devils experienced a scoring slump throughout the third quarter and the Lady Bulldogs took advantage, outscoring the Lady Devils 12-6. Seniors Bailey Hofland and Cana McInerney led the scoring charge, putting up 14 and 11 points respectively.

The scoring slump continued throughout the fourth quarter for the Lady Devils as Sundance went on to a 42-27 victory.

The Sundance Lady Bulldogs end their regular season with a 13-8 overall and 6-2 conference record. They will participate in the 2A east regional tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday hoping to advance to the state tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs will face the Lusk Lady Tigers in their first round on Thursday at 4 p.m. in Burns.
