Patriots ground Eagles

ots were at Tongue River Saturday, facing off against the Eagles. The opening quarter put the Eagles on the scoreboard first as Cashe Van Tassel found a hole for a 34-yard run into the endzone and Garrett Ostler added an extra point in the opening minutes of the game.

It was a back and forth between the teams throughout the rest of the quarter until Patriot quarterback Keaton Mills connected with Luca Brooks for a 12-yard reception as time began to run short. A successful kick from Levi Rudloff tied the game at the end of the first quarter 7-7.

The second quarter brought the Patriot offense out in full force with Brooks and Rudloff finding their way into the endzone, upping the Patriot score to 21. A scoreless third quarter put the Eagles in a tough spot going into the final quarter of play down by 14.

The Patriot offense did not let up as Reece Barritt and Keaton Mills added two more scores to the board, widening their lead to 34. Tongue River would make one more push to the endzone and score in the final seconds of play when Eagle quarterback Connor Cummins connected with Ostler for a 52-yard pass, however it was not enough and the Patriots left the field with a 34-15 victory.

The 3-2 Patriots will take on 2-4 Burns Broncs for their homecoming game in Sundance on Friday at 6 p.m.
