The Wyoming Historical Society’s annual trek to areas of interest around the state will this year be hosted by the Crook County chapter. On the weekend of June 4, visitors will be introduced to the history of this area through visits to historical sites across the county. The trek will focus on the agricultural, industrial, military and Native American history of this area and will take in Sundance, Devils Tower, Hulett, Aladdin and Moorcroft. The board of trustees is currently considering two very different proposed budgets for Crook County Medical Services District’s next fiscal year. One includes the cost of renting the new Hulett Clinic, while the other does not. Both versions of the budget include a deficit, which is not unusual, as federal funding is generally available to critical access hospitals as a reimbursement to help make up the difference. The much-anticipated annual Hulett Rodeo is scheduled this year for June 12 and 13, kicking off at 10 a.m. on the first day of the weekend with a “small-town hoedown” parade. Eva Kyar, 82, went to sleep peacefully on May 17, 2021 and is in the Good Lord’s hands now. She married Roger Kyar in 1963. They had one daughter, Pam. In 1966 they moved to the Sundance area and have lived in the area ever since. She enjoyed taking pictures – family, animals and nature were her favorite subjects. Sewing was a creative outlet for her – she could make anything look like it came from an exclusive store. Cooking was another thing she excelled at – bread was her specialty. Diana Lynn Taylor, 52 of Moorcroft, Wyoming, passed away at her home on Thursday, May 20, 2021. A celebration of life took place Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Cornerstone Ministries in Moorcroft. Diana was born on April 16, 1969, in Buffalo, Wyoming, the first born to Jim and Patti (McKinney) Perkins. Diana grew up in Gillette, Wyoming, where she met and married John Taylor on July 27, 1984. Our Thanks May 19 was the last RT-130 fire training class but on by Wyo. State Forestry for 2021. In about a month the certificates will be available through the zone warden in your area. We had about 50 people attend the training – twice what we expected. It was wonderful to see such interest from people from all over the county. It may be a long, rough fire season. An outbreak of salmonella infections has so far caused illness in 43 states, including Wyoming. The infections have been linked to backyard poultry and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are urging the public to take extra care when handling chickens, ducks and other fowl. At this time, two infections have been reported in Wyoming. In total, 163 people in the U.S. are known to have become ill from salmonella and 34 of those people have been hospitalized. Sundance resident Chauncey Jenerou has been sentenced in Circuit Court after felony charges of child abuse were reduced to misdemeanors. On December 18, a Sheriff’s Office Deputy was asked to investigate reports of a juvenile who claimed Jenerou had physically assaulted them. Jenerou allegedly denied the allegations and claimed he had been messing around with the alleged victim.
