    It was a busy week for the Sundance golfers as they competed at Devils Tower, Wright and Lusk. The Sundance girls' golf team placed first at the Wright and Lusk Invitationals. With an overall team score of 277 in Wright, the Sundance Lady Bulldogs broke the school record by three strokes. Four Lady Bulldogs were in the top ten of scoring as they made their way through the course on Friday; Sheridan Schubarth and Savanah Peterson tied for first place with a score of 85, Avery Marchant finished...

    As the track season begins to wind down, the Sundance track team was able to squeeze in the Bulldog Invitational on Friday last week. Despite the weather, the athletes were able to complete the meet before the downpours came. There were a couple Bulldogs athletes who earned top honors in their events. Jaylin Mills took the top spot in the field events of shot put (30-11) and discus (93-11) while Keaton Mills took the top spot in the discus (133-04).     The Crook County Farm Bureau Federation has selected the winners for scholarships for 2023. This year's winners are Kailee Gill and Faith Honey Anderson. The first-place winner is Kailee Gill, selected to receive a $2000 scholarship from the Crook County Farm Bureau Federation. Kailee played basketball and volleyball for Moorcroft High School, was a member of the Whitcomb FFA chapter and 4-H club showed horses, goats and beef, and was a leader in Fellowship of Christian Athletes.     The Harper Memorial Scholarship committee is pleased to announce the 2023-2024 scholarship recipients. The Orville D. Harper Revocable Trust and the Wanda J. Harper Revocable Trust established this scholarship fund, for which Crook County School District #1 is a beneficiary.     Spring is clearly in the air for the City of Sundance, with much of Tuesday’s council meeting taken up with discussions of work in progress or soon to begin. The council hosted a public hearing for a grant application it intends to submit to WYDOT to fund a new box culvert under 3rd Street.     Thanks to a change in Wyoming law, the City of Sundance will have double the bar and grill liquor licenses within the next couple of months – and triple the current number by 2028. The Wyoming State Legislature passed SF 13 this year: bar and grill liquor license phaseout. The intent was to phase out the current population formulas used to figure out how many licenses a municipality or county can have.     Every so often, something crops up that leads you to question the way things have always been done. Such was the case last week for the county commissioners, when County Attorney Joe Baron and County Clerk Melissa Jones brought to their attention a quirk in how the county’s audit is set up.
