Bulldogs set personal records at Gillette

The Sundance Bulldogs found more success at the Wayne Chaney Invite in Gillette Oct. 7. The Bulldog runners competed in the junior varsity 5k race.

Angel Villegas finished in 20:18.63 earning a third-place finish. Wyatt Flahaven ran a state-qualifying time of 20:43.60, placing ninth. Kort McLaughlin finished in 21:27.60, while Holden Ayer crossed the finish line in 21:29.02. Kyten Johnson ran a time of 23:05.36.

Each runner shaved off time to set new personal records in the 5k race, which bodes well for success in the upcoming 2A Powder River Conference meet in Dayton on Oct. 14.

"Each race the boys continue to improve, running faster times and putting in the effort to achieve their goals," said co-coach Ann Marie Mickle. "This is exactly what we want to see as we head into the final weeks of competition."

The junior high runners did not compete in Gillette. The junior high team will compete in its final race in Dayton, Friday.

The 2A State Cross Country Meet is Oct. 22 in Ethete.
