Bulldogs set personal records at state

The 2022 track and field season came to a close this past weekend as the Sundance Bulldogs participated in the state meet in Casper.

"Despite the horrible weather, our kids competed well at the state meet," coach Lance Hofland commented.

"We had several set their 'PRs,' personal records at the state meet. We had 12 out of the 13 kids that qualified for the state meet get on the podium and receive a medal. We had one all-state athlete, Bailey Hofland, who got second in the discus."

There were multiple third place finishes for the Bulldogs. The girls 1600 sprint medley, boys 4x800 relay as well as Keaton Mills in the high jump and Brook Hofland in the discus, all took home a bronze medal.

Rylie Marchant finished in fifth place for both her running events while teammates Ryder Downey and Keaton Mills finished eighth and sixth in their running events. 

"It was a fun year with the exception of the weather. This group of kids was great to be around and worked hard to achieve their goals. They represented our school well at all of our meets this year. We definitely will miss our senior leaders," coach Hofland stated. 

SHS athletes named to All-State were: Holden Ayer, Jesse Harmon, Ryder Downey and Keaton Mills for the 1600 Sprint Medley; Keaton Mills for High Jump and Bailey Hofland for Shot Put and Discus.
