Architect hired for Hulett Clinic

The Crook County Medical Foundation has hired an architect to design the new Hulett Clinic and will be starting the process with a clean slate, reported Judy Hutchinson to the Crook County Medical Services District Board of Trustees last week.

The foundation chose an architect from Cheyenne, Hutchinson said. The alternative bid was from a Billings firm but there was “quite a bit of difference in price”, she said, explaining that this was partly to do with the breadth of services offered.

“We are ready to begin planning,” Hutchinson continued, telling the board that the foundation will be working as closely as possible with district representatives, including CEO Nathan Hough, service providers and practitioners.

“We know we are going to downsize,” she said, referring to the 8400 square feet that was originally planned.

The general consensus has been that this is too big a footprint, she said – even the 5400 square feet of the Moorcroft Clinic is a little bigger than necessary.

However, the actual size will be determined via feedback from district representatives and also physical therapy and pharmacy providers.

“We’re pretty darned excited about getting a kick start on all this,” she said. The foundation will still be setting its fundraising goal at $2 million, she told the board; any extra funds can be put towards other needed items for the district.
