    The Sundance Cross Country team traveled to Wright to compete Saturday, Sept. 19. Despite the heat, the Bulldogs pulled through to claim several top spots in the contest. Senior Hunter Skeens placed first in a time of 17:46 and freshman Rylie Marchant placed third in a time of 24:10. Although Skeens claimed the top spot, he noted the air quality and concrete course took a toll on his pace and overall time; however, he still ran under 18 minutes in the race.     Saturday, September 19, marked the third annual Black Hills Dairy Goat Association Show at the fairgrounds in Sundance. With participants coming from nine different states and entries just shy of 300 goats, the show is growing in numbers every year. Youth showmanship, with around 30 participants, started at 7 a.m. on Saturday.     The 58th Annual Western 4-H Family and Consumer Science Show will be held Oct. 9 and 10 at the Central States Fairgrounds in Rapid City. While this is called a show, it consists of various contests for developing life skills that 4-Hers, all youth including youngsters under nine years of age, and adults may participate in. The contests begin on Fri., Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. with bread baking and other contests run from noon to 6 p.m. although some start at 2 p.m. that day.     The 2020 Alzada Cowboy Poetry, Music and Art Show has been cancelled. The show has been held on the first Sunday of October for 30 years but, due to COVID concerns and other family events, the organizers felt it would be best not to have it in 2020. Organizers expressed their appreciation to all the loyal support of artists, performers and the large audiences that have gathered “like a family reunion” since 1989 when it was started to celebrate the Montana Centennial.     1 Years Ago Sep. 23, 1920 Cheyenne is starting in to round up 200 homeless dogs that infest that city and Sundance is in the midst of a dog famine. A farmer who complains that coyotes are eating him up, came to town recently and hunted two hours without finding a single unattached Towser. Messrs. Jelbert, Oldroyd, Grice and Fitzgerald motored to Moorcroft yesterday to take in Frontier Day.
