Beulah voters to return to community building

Polling places are now set for Crook County’s voters this year, with only one change from the last election.

Beulah voters will be returning to their community building to cast their ballots, an acknowledgment of the several years of work that community members have put in to refurbish the site.

Due to safety concerns, the Beulah voting location was moved in 2020 to the Northeast Wyoming Visitors’ Center. The biggest issue was a water leak in the roof, causing the plaster to collapse over the entrance on election day in 2018.

Water was also leaking onto the electrical panel.

The Beulah Civic Committee asked for permission to save the old schoolhouse soon after, paid for through fundraising and – as it is a county building – financial assistance from the commissioners.

The project received considerable community support, and by 2023 was in use for everything from blood draws and flu vaccines to a Christmas cookie exchange and Easter hunt.

“They’ve been doing a lot of hard work to get that up to what they need it to be, so my recommendation would be to move it back there,” said County Clerk Melissa Jones.

“That’s the only thing different from last year; otherwise, it’s all the same.”
