Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884

Karl Henrik Frederiksen

Karl Henrik Frederiksen was born January 8, 1930 to Johan and Martha (Pedersen) Frederiksen in Horton, Wyoming. Karl joined his loving wife of 71 years in Heaven on April 9, 2024 with his family by his side.

Karl's education was cut short after the eighth grade because he was needed at home to help provide for his family and run the farm.

On June 1, 1952, Karl married the most beautiful girl in Crook County, Iris (Joan) Dudrey, at the Methodist Church in Sundance, Wyoming. They were the first couple to be married in that church.

Karl worked construction in Wyoming, ranched in Montana and came back to Wyoming to go to work for his brother-in-law, Bob Cundy at Bob's Production Services until his retirement in 1995. Karl was known for planting a big, beautiful garden each year in his green house and making sure every bird in the neighborhood had a filled birdhouse to visit.

Karl was quite the teaser...whenever a nurse, aide or doctor would get close to him, not even touching him, he would say "OUCH".

Karl was preceded in death eight months and three days prior by his beautiful, loving wife of 71 years, Joan, and their son Kendall Dean 2½ years ago. He is also preceded in death by his parents, sister Eda Gose, sister Ellen (Dorman) Ewing, sister Anna (Wallace) Canfield, brother Kenneth (Dorthea), sister Irene (Sam) Snell, brother-in-law Bob Cundy, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dean (Irma) Hutchins, father-in-law Richard Dudrey, step father-in-law and mother-in-law Cecil (Murel) Maddox, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

Life was just not the same for Karl after losing all of his sisters, brother, in-laws and friends. One can only imagine the reunion they must be having in Heaven.

Karl is survived by son Richard (Becky) of Casper, son Vernon of Casper, daughter Karla (Larry) Waters of Casper, and bonus son Keith Boschee of Casper. He is also survived by grandson Shawn (Jackie) of South Dakota, grandson Justin (Lexi) of South Dakota, granddaughter Christine of Colorado, grandson David of Alaksa, granddaughter Brittni (Ryan) of California, grandson Eddy (Tami Vold Larsen) Lowndes of Casper, grandson Cory (Augi) of Colorado, granddaughter Lindy (Jeremy) Mundorf of Casper, seven great grandchildren, brother-in-law Don Gose, sister-in-law Verna Cundy, numerous nieces, nephews and family in Denmark.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming. A light breakfast reception and gathering will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2024 until the start of his service beginning at 10 a.m. at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at United Methodist Church in Sundance, Wyoming on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Green Mountain Cemetery. After the Graveside Service, a light luncheon will be held at United Methodist Church.
