Structures lost in late evening fire

A shop and lean-to were lost during a late evening fire at the Mills Ranch on Saturday. According to Fire Chief Gari Gill, firefighters arrived at the scene around 10 p.m. to find the structures fully engulfed and set up lines on all sides to contain the flames. Sundance Volunteer Fire Department sent an engine and tender to the fire. As the home is located on Hwy 116, about halfway between the two municipalities, Upton Volunteer Fire Department also sent an engine and tender and the Weston County Fire Warden responded. The fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty wood stove. A total of 14 personnel fought the fire. Sadly, the structures were a total loss; however, no injuries to people or firefighters were reported.
