With the increasing snow since last week, the Upton stage has reverted to the old standby and left with a team Monday. Roads are fast becoming unnavigable for motors in this section.

It is stated that the Smead hotel at Lead City will be wrecked and torn down to make way for operations of the mine. It was built only twenty years ago, but open cut operations of the mine have encroached on the hotel site. A large portion of the city of Lead is really directly over the workings of the mine, and as time goes on it would seem that the town itself must move out the way...
