Bulldogs run at Belle Fourche

The Bulldog Cross Country team competed in its third contest Thurs., Sept. 8 in the Belle Fourche Invitational in Belle Fouche, SD. 

The Bulldog’s tackled a challenging course, with improved race times and new goals for the upcoming competitions. 

Senior Deklan Gill competed in a time of 19:55.55, while teammate and junior Angel Villegas ran in 20:32.64. Junior Holden Ayer finished in 21:31.06, while juniors Kyten Johnson and Wyatt Flahaven ran in times of 22:51.15 and 22:48.46, respectively. Junior Jager McLaughlin finished in 23:72.72. Ayer, Johnson, Flahaven and McLaughlin all shed time off from their previous 3.2-mile times. 

Freshman Maddison Neiman finished 10th in the junior varsity 5000-meter run. Neiman competed in a time of 27:02.68. 

The middle school runners competed in a 3000-meter run.

Seventh-grader Remmington Johnson ran in a time of 14:13.45, while fellow seventh-grader Eva Stark ran in a time of 15:20.72. Seventh-graders Ava Cooney and Taylor Asheim ran in 19:29.55 and 19:47.

Eighth-grader Ryaln Asheim ran in a time of 14:51.40. 

Sixth-grader CJ Koep ran his first the middle school sixth grade 3000-meter race in a time of 15:48.40.

“As the season continues, we see the runners get stronger – both physically and mentally. The team displayed excellent team spirit in Belle Fourche, which is key in succeeding this season,” said co-coach Ann Marie Mickle.

“We look forward to the next several weeks and seeing times improve even more drastically.”

The Bulldogs will compete in the Newell Invite on Fri., Sept. 15. The Bulldogs will host the Bulldog Invite on Fri., Sept. 22 at 9 a.m. The meet will begin and end at the Sundance High School Track.
