Sundance named as stop on Sturgis poker run

A new event is coming to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally this year, and Sundance is set to participate. Uncle Louie’s Diner will be one of five area stops on the first Mayor’s Black Hills Poker Run, an event that will encourage bikers to tour destinations within the Black Hills.

Held in conjunction with the annual rally and promoted through the City of Sturgis, the poker run will be offering as its prize a VIP package for next year’s event.

Mayor Mark Carstensen is inviting rallygoers to visit Rally Headquarters in Sturgis between August 5 and 12 to register for the poker run. Participants then receive a “passport” and must visit each of five locations.

These destinations include the Hitching Post Tap House in Belle Fourche, SD, the Sanford Lab Visitor Center in Lead, SD, and the Prairie Berry Winery and Tin City Saloon in Hill City, SD, as well as Sundance’s Uncle Louie’s Diner.

Exclusive coins have been made for the first 1000 participants. All who complete their passports will then return to Rally Headquarters to draw their poker hand and be entered into a drawing for the VIP package, which includes a hotel stay, passes to the VIP Hospitality Center for two meals per day, passes to the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and either the Mayor’s Ride or Ride with a Local, two official shirts, two VIP balcony passes and a Main Street photo.

The Sundance Chamber of Commerce has stated that Sundance may see an additional increase in traffic during this year’s Rally due to this poker run.
