Prayers on the square

Enjoy a more spiritual kind of lunch break this summer with a short service each Friday in Sundance Square. This noonday prayer opportunity is intended to be nondenominational and is open to everyone, says Rev. Steve Christy of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.

It’s intended both for churchgoers and for, “People who don’t ever step inside a church but still might like to have a short spiritual experience, some fellowship and time for prayer,” Christy explains.

“We hope to do this as non-denominational. Everybody is welcome to join in.”

Services will last for around ten to 15 minutes and will be followed by a time of fellowship. Attendees are invited to bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy during the event and a folding chair if you would prefer to sit.

Services will continue each Friday until Labor Day. According to Christy, they will be occasions to unite our community, state and nation in worship, prayer and fellowship as attendees publicly pray for revival and praise Jesus Christ.

Intended as one of Sundance’s memorable summer occasions, Prayer on the Square is a family-friendly outdoor event.

“If you’re interested in getting together for a few minutes and seeing some friends or making some new friends, that’s what it will be about,” Christy says.
