Utility users will receive free dump day voucher

Sundance citizens will once again receive a coupon on the back of their utility bills this year, granting everyone the opportunity to bring their trash to the city’s transfer station completely free of charge on a day of their choosing.

For the last few years, the City of Sundance has issued a free trash coupon to each of its utility customers.

Originally, the city hosted a single “free landfill day” each year. This process was changed several years ago to give residents a longer period of time during which they can choose to utilize the coupon and bring their trash to the transfer station.

This was intended to lighten the workload for landfill attendants while making things easier for citizens.

As Mayor Paul Brooks said on Tuesday, it was always difficult to figure out the best date for a free dump day, because there were too many potential conflicts during the spring.

Either the chosen day clashed with Mother’s Day or graduation or another date important to members of the community, or the skies inevitably chose that day to pour down constant rain.

The coupon will appear on the back of your upcoming utility bill. It can be presented at the transfer station on the day of your choice and you will be able to bring an unlimited amount trash free throughout that single day.
