Beulah makeover moving along

The community building in Beulah has undergone quite the makeover over the last few months, and representatives from the civic committee offered their thanks to the Crook County Commissioners last week for their support through the process.

"The funding you guys gave us really helped out," said Keith Haiar.

The money has helped the group to build a new deck that goes all the way across the building's façade, which in turn has allowed for a change to the main entry to a door that better suits the purpose.

The building has been repainted and power washed and the trim will be completed in spring. The "swamp" surrounding it has been drained out, said Joe Julian, and this means most of it can be mowed come the summer, and an ADA-approved portapotty has been installed.

"It's really looking nice," complimented Commissioner Kelly Dennis, while Commissioner Fred Devish commended the committee for stepping up.

Haiar told the commission that the project has received a lot of community support, with locals turning out to help with the work. It has recently been used for a variety of purposes, ranging from a blood draw and a flu vaccine clinic to a Christmas cookie exchange, a gun show fundraiser and an Easter hunt.

"It's helped pull the community together," said Julian.
