Good

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart (Heb. 6:9).

Good. A sufficient and solid word that often gets lost in settling for less or demanding more.

Humanity finds trouble in thinking God is holding out on them and begins searching for more, without realizing additions are not always better. It is finding through a relationship with God (discernment) when, where and how to be satisfied.

That ability to see, balance and experience the goodness of God.

Good started from the beginning (foundational) and is sown into God’s creation.

And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness (Gen. 1:4). The Hebrew meaning is: pleasant and agreeable.

The Greek definition off good is revealed in Matt. 17:4:

Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here.” kalós, kal-os’: beautiful, but chiefly (figuratively) good (literally or morally), i.e., valuable, or virtuous. Beautiful and valuable.

Pleasing; beautiful, handsome, excellent, eminent, choice, surpassing, precious, useful, suitable, commendable, admirable.

God’s entire creation was good. Pleasant, agreeable and nothing more could be added. It was sufficient (satisfactory, necessary, appropriate, ample, plenty, abundant) and all that was needed. God saw it was enough (valuable) and met all the necessary requirements.

Good is also conductive, inspiring and an essential ingredient in all of God’s creation. It is not only included by Him, but also given to all to pass along to others.

The lesson God desires for us is to realize that good is fitting and ok (beautiful).

That it is both precious and plenty. The world pushes to have and always be the best.

That living is to be great and awesome and always getting better. The problem is that in replacing the goodness of God, the world loses the peace and purpose of His creation, which includes you.

God is good and life is hard. Don’t get the two mixed up. In this God created world you will realize that good is a word that provides plenty and is appropriate for most of life.

You are to always be looking for, ready for opportunities to make living better, although not vacating and forgetting the solid foundation of what is good. God’s salvation and truth is based on His Word…which is simply “good”.

Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works (Heb. 10:24).
