Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884

(Book)mark of excellence

Students gathered for a brief assembly at Sundance Elementary School last week to honor one of their own for being a finalist in the Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom bookmark award.

Of the 13 finalists chosen from second to fifth graders all around the state for the award, an impressive five were from right here in Crook County.

The students of SES celebrated one of these finalists, Keva Rasmussen, who was unable to attend the formal award presentation in Cheyenne during the summer.

Instead, she was presented with her award, along with a giant version of her bookmark and a photograph of Governor Mark Gordon and other state officials holding her work at an assembly in front of her schoolmates, parents and grandparents.

The bookmarks illustrate a message about Wyoming's natural resources. The winning designs are printed and distributed around the state.

Additional winners from around the county this year included Bronson Sasse, Jasmine Wendling, Addison Albertson and Juri Williamson.
