100 Years Ago

November 16, 1922

A. Hewes, who now has about one hundred registered Herefords on his ranch, unloaded the best registered bull here Tuesday that has been brought to this part of the state. He bought him from Monsel Bros. at Cambridge, Nebr.

At the meeting of the Commercial club several matters of importance to the community were acted upon. It was voted to assist the American Legion to the extent off $25 in putting in a radio station. A resolution was passed asking the city council to improve the fire equipment, looking to the organization of a volunteer company with a working head to take charge at a fire.

W.J. Williamson has taken charge of the Beulah Rochdale store and will move the family to Beulah within a short time.

75 Years Ago

November 20, 1947

Twice within three days the town of Sundance was without electrical energy as overloaded engines at the local plant broke down. Friday the power was off for about three hours. Sunday the plant broke down again shortly after noon and did not get back into full swing again until about 7 o’clock that night. Despite the efforts of the Tri-County Electric Association to locate another power unit for installation here there is still no definite assurance that one will be set up.

Allan Edwards, E.B. Chatfield, Harlan Williams and Rodney Port attended the State Woolgrowers Association meeting last week as representatives and in the interest of the Crook County Predatory Animal Association. Rodney Port reported that the forest service representatives at that meeting seemed very cooperative in regard to putting out coyote poisoning in the forest reserve.

Cadet Alan Roberts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde D. Roberts has earned the maroon bar and star for maintaining a perfect disciplinary record at the Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Missouri for the past two months.

November 16, 1972

Five Sundance High School students will be in Rock Springs this week for the state convention of the Wyoming Association of Student Councils. Students attending will be Bonnie Kipp, Wanda Hejde, Debbie Lamb, Marjorie Taylor and Kirk Ellingford. Sponsors Alvin Albert and Gerald Fiscus will accompany the students.

November 20, 1997

Thirteen SHS music students have been selected to participate in the NE District HS Honor Band and Choir Clinic to be held in Casper. The SHS students in the choir are: Tammie Mitchell, Amber Redfield, Adrienne Gill, Mandy Marr, Patrick Nolan and Jeremy Engel. Students in the symphonic band are: Jana Green – flute; Cedar Hougham and Destiny Engel – clarinet; Jayme Dark – alto sax and Ethan Reinhold – French horn. Students in the wind ensemble are: Callie Hilty – clarinet and Robby Follum – trombone.
