Drought creeps back into county

The drought conditions that have plagued Crook County over the last couple of years have largely lifted, but the latest climate reports show this region creeping slowly back towards dry conditions.

The good news is that the drought conditions are considerably less severe at this time and have the potential to resolve for most of the county within the next few weeks.

The northeastern corner of the county is now listed as experiencing moderate drought conditions, while the rest of the county is currently "abnormally dry", according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

The National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center's outlook for precipitation over the next month meanwhile suggests there is an up to 50% chance that the county will receive lower-than-normal precipitation over the next month.

The Climate Prediction Center's U.S. Seasonal Drought Outlook meanwhile suggests that drought conditions will persist in the northeastern corner of the county until at least November 30.

Temperatures are likely to be above normal until at least the end of this week and have a 50-60% chance of being hotter than usual until the end of September.
