Wisdom

Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding – Prov. 4:7.

Wisdom. Skill. The key to knowledge (facts); understanding (insight); and instruction (discipline). It is the voice of God and the answer to life.

Wisdom is principal or primary in our living, as it reveals the permanence and ultimate reality of God. It is much more than a concept; it is the foundation upon all must see the world as God intended. Wisdom has its foundation in the Word of God.

Wisdom also finds its source in and through Jesus Christ: But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God – and righteousness and sanctification and redemption (1 Cor. 1:30).

We are instructed to: Buy the truth, and do not sell it, also wisdom and instruction and understanding (Prov. 23:23). This is individual responsibility.

With Wisdom a Believer will find not only their place in the world, but the peace of God.

He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good (Prov. 19:8).

Those who create their own plan, will impoverish their soul.

King David, speaking to his son Solomon before he died, stated: Only may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God (1 Chron. 22:12).

Wisdom not only sees the end from the beginning but keeps everything in focus.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil (Prov. 3:7).

And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom,

And to depart from evil is understanding’ (Job 28:28).

Jesus grew in it.

And Jesus increased in wisdom (in broad and full understanding) and stature,

and in favor with God and men (Luke 2:52).

And it helps in keeping us safe:

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matt. 10:16).

Until you grasp what it means that God is all-wise, you will never be able to trust and rest in His plan for your life. Get wisdom…knowledge, understanding and instruction will follow.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him (James 1:5).
