Hooked up

It was only a matter of minutes before the first fish was caught during this year's Sundance Rod & Gun Club fishing derby.

The call came out from across the pond as Cash Peterson announced he'd hooked the trout that started a successful afternoon of fishing for local kids.

Around 30 young anglers tried their luck during the event, catching plenty of fish in the process, according to organizer Doug Ramsey. The longest trout caught

was a tie between Avery Sproul and Stanton Engelhaupt at 10.5 inches, followed by Cash Peterson at ten inches, Adam Frazier and Kyndall Sproul at 9.75 inches and Reagen Sproul at 9.5 inches.

Cash Peterson was also the first to hit the limit of six trout. He was followed by Adam Frazier in second and Porter Watt in third.

The event ran from 1 to 3 p.m., managing to avoid any interference from the looming clouds other than a few raindrops here and there. The kids and their families also enjoyed a lunch of hot dogs, fresh from the grill, and soda.
