Trial date set in Svoboda murder case

A trial date has been scheduled for Ed Svoboda, a Crook County man who stands accused of murdering his wife in September, 2021. Svoboda has pled not guilty by reason of mental illness.

A date could not be set following Svoboda’s arraignment in March due to the necessity for an examination of his mental condition, which the prosecution and defense agreed should be performed at the Wyoming State Hospital.

A backlog at the hospital had at that time already caused timing issues in this case. Svoboda’s attorney, P. Craig Silva, stated during the arraignment that he would prefer the procedure...
