Schroeder visits Sundance schools

Superintendent of Public Instruction Brian Schroeder spent the day in Sundance's schools last week, visiting with Principals Jim O'Connor and Brian Hartwig as well as parents, staff and members of the Crook County School District Board of Trustees.

As well as observing classrooms in both the elementary and high school, says Superintendent Mark Broderson, Schroeder wanted to hear from stakeholders.

"Much of his visit consisted of listening to teachers and board members share their thoughts on the role of the Wyoming Department of Education," he says.

"They also had the opportunity to share ideas to support districts in their attempt to meet state requirements."

The visit went well, Broderson says, sharing that, "Mr. Schroeder had a lot of nice comments in regards to our classrooms and staff."

Schroeder took on the role of Superintendent of Public Instruction earlier this year. He was appointed by Governor Mark Gordon when Jillian Balow announced she would be stepping down to take a matching role in Virginia.

On a visit to Crook County soon after his appointment, Schroeder shared his excitement at getting to know the schools and districts of Wyoming. One of his first goals, he said, was to get to each of the individual districts and visit as many schools in as many parts of the state as possible.
