Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I read the recent article in the Sundance Times, about the culling of our local deer population. While I am not in favor of the killing of wildlife, I understand that the deer may cause problems when they become numerous and lose their fear of humans. However, the Mayor was quoted as saying “Anything that you can kill…I am indifferent to what species, I am indifferent to what size.”

What a callous remark! I find that lack of empathy surprising and distasteful. As a leader of a community, I would expect him to at least show some compassion for the killing of such beautiful creatures.

I hope he enjoys his venison.

A very unhappy constituent,

Jaimi Dodson
