Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884
With the assistance of a firm called FutureSync, the Crook County Medical Services District (CCMSD) has given a new look to its strategic plan, said CEO Micki Lyons last week. The district has announced the new vision statement it will aim to live up to in the future, she said: “CCMSD is recognized for setting the standard for rural healthcare across generations.”
Lyons informed the board of trustees that she had instigated the session because she wanted the district’s strategic plan to be fresh, new and specifically tailored to the district’s new management and new leadership. For the first two years, she said, things will be kept pretty simple and will stick to two specific pillars.
The first of these is culture, she said. CCMSD will try to recruit, maintain and develop dedicated individuals. To do this, the district will define its core values, develop strategies, build key positions and develop a mentoring program and an ongoing education program.
CCMSD will also work on an employee engagement tool, said Lyons. This will be used as a way for staff to share what they feel needs to be improved or added to the cultural environment.
“We want to build a culture where people want to come work for us and they don’t want to leave,” she said.
The second pillar is to build partnerships for business, Lyons said. CCMSD will aim to cultivate relationships both within the community and in the surrounding area by developing a marketing plan and increasing its partnerships.
Members of the public can watch out for an opportunity to comment in the near future, Lyons said, as the district launches a small-scall community assessment.
“We’re going to put together a community survey and try to get that out to people during the county fair,” she told the board.
The district is also developing a discharge planning process to better help patients access the resources they need after leaving hospital, as well as a capital expenditure plan. All these items will be discussed during the monthly managers’ meeting, Lyons said; all board members indicated they were on board with the new strategic plan.
