Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I have hesitated in writing this letter because my spouse is on the Crook County Hospital Board and I am apprehensive that my thoughts may be received incorrectly or with prejudice. But after due consideration, I believe that words must be spoken.

This message is not necessarily to the CCHB but more to the reporting presented by Ms. Sarah Pridgeon in both the Sundance and Hulett newspapers relative to the Hulett clinic. The articles she continually writes are mostly one sided, gained from information spawned from one of the CCHB members in the name of “freedom of the press”. I too believe in letting the public know what is happening, but I also feel that it needs to be presented in a fair and honest manner. Not once have I read in Ms. Pridgeon’s articles on the Hulett Clinic a complete accounting. Not once have I read where Ms. Pridgeon interviewed anyone from the Crook County Medical Foundation to gain this board’s perspective on the issues of the new Hulett clinic versus the opinions of some of the members of CCHB. I was under the belief that “good reporting” checked, and double checked, sources. I implore Ms. Pridgeon to be fair and balanced in all her reporting and present all sides of any issue including this one. Please do not take this as a personal affront, it is not so intended.

As for the two boards, this continued public arguing over the management of the Hulett medical facility is not helping to heal old wounds that have existed between the two communities for years. It is also not accomplishing anything positive for the residents of this county. Face the facts, the new building is now nearing completion and hopefully a resolution can be made between the two opposing boards. If not, then some other medical firm may jump at the opportunity to open a new modern facility, complete with a pharmacy and physical therapy room attached.

Respectfully,

Thomas Lindmier
