Rod Owen DeCent

Rod Owen DeCent, age 57, passed away peacefully May 1, 2021, with his wife and family by his side.

Rod was born May 13, 1963, in Aurora, Minnesota, to Allan “Doc” and Priscilla DeCent. He grew up in Embarrass, Minnesota, and graduated from J. F. Kennedy High School in Babbitt, Minnesota. After graduation, Rob joined the National Guard where he devoted four years of his life.

Rod met the love of his life, Melony, in 2001 and they married on September 11, 2010. From this marriage three children were born; Rio Lynn born June 29, 2008, Rayanne Rose born May 5, 2011, and Romel Owen born May 17, 2015. Rod worked at the Eagle Butte coal mine for eight years.

Rod was a member of the Pine Ridge Church in Carlile, Wyoming. He enjoyed spending his free time watching TV, reading, and snowmobiling.

Rod is survived by four sisters, four brothers and many nieces and nephews. Rod was preceded in death by his father, Doc; his mother, Priscilla and brother, Kenny.

There will be a celebration of life on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 1 p.m. at the Pine Ridge Church in Carlile with Shayla Graham officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at Rod and Melony’s house.

A memorial has been established for Melony and their children at Pinnacle Bank in Moorcroft, Wyoming.
