Damage estimated at $5000 resulted Tuesday afternoon when a garage building and its contents was destroyed by fire at the Crook County Refinery one-half mile west of Sundance. In explaining the cause of the fire, Andy Policky, owner, said that he had been in the garage, burning some old papers in a stove there, when he was called to the station pumps to service a customer, that he must have left the door of the stove opened when he left and that when he had returned the structure had caught fire. He immediately summoned aid and fire fighters with their extinguishers rushed to the scene and had the fire almost completely under control when the supply of chemical fighting equipment gave out. In just a matter of a few minutes the fire was completely out of control. A favorable wind prevented the fire spreading to other buildings and a possible holocaust. A portion of the building was used for storing oil and tires, and when these caught fire there were numerous explosions. The fire burned for about 20 hours.
