March 31, 1920

C.H. Sackett, local dealer in the light Overland car, states that for the present dealers of this territory are unable to secure stocks of these cars which bid to be the favorite general utility machine of the country, one of the causes being the lack of railway cars for present use, which it is hoped to overcome within a few weeks.

Master Leroy Schloredt entertained a number of his little friends last Saturday in honor of his fifth birthday. The afternoon was very pleasantly spent in games, followed by delicious refreshments.

A.L Cole made proof on his homestead today before Clerk of Court Mauch, using as witnesses Sidney Harvey and Ed Messersmith.

In the practice of what they preach a party of Sundance men comprised of H.M. Brown, Harry Schloredt, C.L Calvert, H.P. Isley, Edwin Rounds, J.E. Ford, L.T. Oldroyd, George Cunda and Bobbie Roark took Sheriff Hurtt’s team, a lot of shovels and in good season Sunday morning were joined by O.G. Lawell with his team and proceeded on a road-opening tour toward Upton. Mel and Ike Dudrey also went out to resume the schedule with the stage rig.

April 5, 1945

Owing to road and weather conditions, it has been decided to again give the tick fever vaccinations at Hulett.

Previously reported missing in action, Pvt. Edgar W. Redinger, 21, was officially reported killed in action in Belgium on the 18th of December, 1944. On January 18 the family had been notified that he was missing. They had maintained the hope that he was a German prisoner, a hope that fortified by the fact that Eddie was one of the thousands of American soldiers who were forced from Germany back into Belgium when Von Runstedt staged a Nazi counter offensive in early December which created the Belgium bulge in which thousands of our soldiers were taken prisoner.

April 2, 1970

The Board of County Commissioners and the Crook County Hospital Board took steps Tuesday to provide for county operation of Crook County Memorial Hospital here. The commissioners gave notice of their intention to transfer $15,000 from the cash reserve fund to supplement the hospital budget. At the same time, the hospital board said it would transfer $5000 from its cash reserve fund to supplement the hospital budget. The county will assume operation of the hospital May 1 since the Lutheran Hospitals and Homes Society will terminate its operation April 30.

A former Sundance resident is among the 200-man crew of the Coast Guard’s icebreaker Northwind which is stranded atop nearly 40 feet of ice near the Arctic Circle. He is Vernon C. Seeley, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Seeley, Osage. The Coast Guard said last week the ice breaker will probably be frozen until weather conditions change.

April 6, 1995

Beginning in 1995, unsuccessful applicants for Wyoming moose and bighorn sheep licenses will begin accruing “preference points” for future drawings, and a mountain goat will become a “once in a lifetime license”, according to a bill passed by the 1995 Wyoming Legislature.

The Crook County Democratic Central Committee met on Thursday, March 30 in the jury room to elect new officers. The slate of officers chosen is as follows: Chairman - John Schoffstall; vice chair – Kari Priewe; secretary – Karen Glover; treasurer – Ralph Goodson; state committeeman – Frank Proctor and state committeewoman – Margery Goodson.
