Irene Roark Snider

Irene Roark Snider, 91, of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2019, at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Irene was a great Christian woman, a member of the Church of Christ at 45 E. Loucks, Sheridan, Wyoming. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She was born on January 10, 1928, in Sundance, Wyoming. Her parents were Bobby and Clara Roark. She had five sisters: Anna, Dot, Louise, Clara, Honey and one brother, James. Irene is the last of her generation.

She graduated from high school in Sundance in 1946. She married Richard Snider, her high school sweetheart, on September 15, 1946. They celebrated 72 years of marriage. They ranched at Sundance for 55 years before moving to Sheridan in 2001.

Irene had four children: Gary, John and Judy. David preceded her in death in 1952. She is survived by her husband, Richard at home in Sheridan; her children, Gary (Cynthia) of Pocatello, Idaho, John (Patty) of Midland, Texas and Judy from Sarasota, Florida; six grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

Irene was baptized into Christ as in Acts 2:36-47. She was added to the Church just like the people in Acts 2:47. She was baptized on July 1, 1963, in a beaver dam on Houston Creek at the age of 35, with her family.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for 56 years. Irene enjoyed Lawrence Welk, Jeopardy, country western music, walking every day and feeding the rabbits and the squirrels. She was a wonderful rancher’s wife, organizing the ranch business, feeding ranch hands and hunters and keeping the house organized.

If you followed Irene’s example, she would teach you how to live, love, forgive, care, work and serve. She loved music, baking and her family. She was a patient soul and at the age of 91 she went to the promised land.

Graveside services were held Friday, May 24, 2019, in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
