Natural gas plan inches forward

Mayor Paul Brooks’ plan to introduce natural gas to the City of Sundance has taken another small step forward with the introduction of a consultant to determine whether the idea is fiscally feasible. Brooks met with representatives from Powder River Energy at the end of November, he told the council last week.

“We came up with more questions than answers, but they have a consultant they are going to bring in on January 16 to look at numbers,” he said.

Brooks told the council that he and Clerk Treasurer Kathy Lenz have been gathering numbers diligently to hopefully facilitate a closer look at whether the plan will be affordable. After spending a day with the consultants, he hopes to have a yes or no answer as to whether the city and its potential partners can move forward.

With the Town of Pine Haven already on board, Brooks also mentioned that the idea of asking the Town of Hulett to come on board is being considered, though he does not know if they will be receptive.
