Getting underway

Fair week kicked off on Saturday with the youth rodeo as kids from around the county showed off their skills on horseback. The weekend rounded out with team roping and the horse show and was followed by a week of livestock shows, fashion revues and entertainment. Fire claims home near Sundance

The cause of a fire that claimed a family residence last week is still under investigation. The fire was reported at 4:15 a.m. on Friday morning at a single family dwelling on Beaver Creek Road, southwest of Sundance. The smoke was spotted and called in by neighbors to the north, says Fire Warden Charlie Harrison. The 2023-'24 winter proved the third deadliest for Yellowstone wolves in the decades since Canis lupus was reintroduced to the landscape in 1995.
