Larry Floyd Crawford

Larry Floyd Crawford, age 85 of Sundance, Wyoming, formerly of Newell, South Dakota, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Crook County Long Term Care Facility with his family by his bedside.

Larry was born July 23, 1939, at Redbird, Nebraska, to Lawrence Clayton Crawford and Hazel Lydia Hartland Crawford. They moved to Brainerd, Minnesota and then on to various places in South Dakota.

He attended country schools until boarding in Winner, South Dakota, where he attended high school before moving to Sundance in March 1957 and graduating from Sundance High School that May.

He worked as a filling station attendant, construction worker, and for various area ranchers before buying a ranch in Newell. He married his high school sweetheart, Jeanette Eva Moeller, on September 4, 1960. To this union one son and three daughters were born.

Larry and Jenny attended Newell Christian Fellowship. He enjoyed everything about farming and ranching, especially his horses.

He bred mini horses and made harnesses for his own teams and for friends. He spent every opportunity he could to take his kids camping and hunting with friends and family.

Larry is survived by his wife Jenny of 64 years; daughters, Lanette (Charlie) Bousa of Sundance, Deneice (Miles) McMillan of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Darcy Crawford of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Caleb (Mandi) Bousa of Powell, Wyoming, Seth (Natalya) Crawford and Cameo (Sam) Donnelly of Houston; and great grandchildren, Hudson Donnelly, Elizabeth Crawford and another expected in February of 2025.

Also, step great-grandchildren Christian Jacobs, Sammie Jacobs, Ciara Jacobs and a great-great grandson Joshua Jacobs; brother, Lindell (Barbara) Crawford; sisters, Dollie (Marvin) Blauvelt, Ollie Darlene Parks and Donna Robinson; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Crawford and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his son, Stan William Crawford; grandson, Ezra Bousa; parents, Lawrence and Hazel Crawford; brother, Wilbur Crawford; sisters, Wanda Schultz and Joan Manker; sister-in-law, Patricia Kipp Crawford; brothers-in-law, Richard Farley, Dick Schultz, Gaylen Manker, Roger Keahey and Don Parks.

Services were held on Wednesday, December 11 at Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel in Sundance with Pastor Donnie Holt officiating. Burial followed in Hope Cemetery at Newell with lunch following at Newell Christian Fellowship.

A memorial has been established to the Crook County Long Term Care Activity Department.
