Sign-ups open for summer rec

The end of the school year is fast approaching, which means it’s time for your kids to decide which summer recreation activities they would like to partake in.

Choose from options including t-ball, baseball, soccer, volleyball and basketball.

T-ball is open to kids aged from four to seven and will be split into two age groups. For four and five year olds, classes will run from 1 to 2 p.m. between June 1 and 29 at the high school field.

Games will take place at the baseball complex. Kids must be four years old by May 31 to participate.

For ages six and seven, coach pitch t-ball will take place at the same time and place.

Soccer will also be split into two age groups: kindergarten through third grade and fourth through seventh grades. Sign your kids up for this and all other classes according to the grade they will be in this fall.

Both age groups for soccer will run on Wednesdays from June 7 to July 5 at the high school field (no classes on June 29), with the younger kids playing from 1 to 2 p.m. and the older kids from 2 to 3 p.m.

Basketball will be open to three age groups: kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade and sixth through ninth grade. Classes will be held at the Central Office gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays between July 6 and July 20 from 1 to 2 p.m. for the youngest players, 2 to 3 p.m. for the middle group and 3 to 4 p.m. for the oldest.

Volleyball will also be held in the Central Office gym on Mondays from June 5 to July 10 and will be split into the same three age groups, with practices taking place at the same time as basketball for each group. There will be no volleyball on July 3.

Major/minor league baseball will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 4 and 6 p.m. at the baseball field for players aged 8 and above.

Payments for this summer’s recreation activities can be made to the City of Sundance either at City Hall or online via cityofsundancewy.com. For more information about baseball, contact Ashley Sproul at 307-660-7394; for other activities, contact Andrea Humphrey at 307-896-3161 or 290-2302.
