County GOP makes leadership changes

Ty Stutzman was elected the new chairman of the Crook County Republican Party at a meeting of the Central Committee last week, winning the vote against incumbent Jeff Burian.

“I was elected by the people who were sitting in front of me, the central committee. They are my boss and I believe that, as chairman, you need to listen to everybody and be open to everything,” Stutzman says of his goals in this new position.

“I would like to see the Republican Party grow and get younger people involved, but the biggest thing is that I believe, as chairman, I work for all Republicans in Crook County. That doesn’t mean I can’t have my personal values and views, but I work for everybody in the county – all Republicans.”

Dale Wood, Jim Reeves and Marcy Havner all stood for the position of Vice Chairman. After the first vote, which was too close to call, Reeves chose to bow out.

Wood won the most votes in the second round of voting and was elected to the position.

Roger Connett won the position of State Chair in a vote against Mark Stengle.

Those who were elected to the remaining positions within the party were each incumbents. Sherri Davis retains the position of State Committeewoman; Gary Anderson remains Treasurer; and Ann Marie Mickle will continue to serve as Secretary.

All three ran unopposed.
