SHS, SES present Christmas concerts

Enjoy a little holiday cheer on Monday with a Christmas concert proudly presented by the Sundance Junior High and High School Band and Choir.

Your musical evening will begin with a solo performance of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Cole Robinson, followed by three songs from the combined choirs: “Sleigh Ride”, “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” and “Deck the Nutcracker Hall”.

Next up will be a piano solo from Mary Villegas, followed by a performance of “That’s Christmas to Me” from the women’s choir, featuring Zoe Skeens, Lauryn Brooks, Cienna McGucken and Ayla Sanders.

Branson Bankenbush will perform “O Little Town of Bethlehem” on flute, followed by the show choir’s version of “Sing Me to Winter” with a solo from Lindsey Fosheim. The men’s choir will perform “Jingle Bell Rock”.

Performances from the combined band will include “Frosty the Snowman”, “Three Minute Nutcracker”, “Silent Night” and “Minka’s Sleigh Ride”. The night will finish with an audience with the choir, introduced with “Silent Night” from Chelsea Blasczyk on piano and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.

The concert is under the direction of Teresa Preisner and will take place at 7 p.m. on December 12 at the high school.

Mrs. Preisner would also like to commend the band and choir members who were invited to North East District High School Honor Band and Choir in Sheridan last month. The students were unable to attend due to weather and road closures.

Band members included Branson Bankenbush on flute, Lauryn Brooks on clarinet, Angel Villegas on euphonium and Gracie Davis on percussion. Choir members were Lindsay Fosheim, Cole Robinson, Tanner Sandford and Jacob Comer.

Two students were also selected for the Black Hills State University junior high and high school band on November 22: Liam Groth on trumpet for the high school band and Arianna Neiman on alto saxophone for the junior high band.
