Shop small for the season

Get your Christmas lists ready – next weekend is your annual opportunity to support local businesses and earn the chance to win a reward of your own.

November 26 marks the date of two local traditions: Small Business Saturday® and the Ladies Night Block Party.

Your two chances to “Shop Small” begin with Small Business Saturday®, which will run throughout the day. Sundance has observed this holiday shopping tradition for the last few years with the Punch Card Raffle, which aims to encourage the community to take a browse of the many stores available in town.

To take part, simply spend a minimum of $5 in participating stores in Sundance and ask the retailer to initial your punch card. Ten initials on your card and you can turn it in to any participating retailer of Sundance State Bank to be entered into a drawing for $250 in Sundance Bucks.

You may complete as many punch cards as you like and must turn them in by December 1. The drawing will be held the next day during the Lighted Parade (you need not be present to win).

Small Business Saturday was launched in 2010 by American Express to honor the small businesses at the core of every thriving neighborhood. It takes place on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to encourage people to bring more holiday shopping to those small businesses.

On the evening of November 26, head to the Sundance State Bank meeting room adjacent to the post office at 5 p.m. to kick off Ladies Night, an evening of shopping and wine. Over 20 vendors and a number of businesses will be taking part in an event that encourages you to browse the available wares around town while sipping wine and enjoying the company of friends.

Discounted tickets can be snagged in advance from Wild West Espresso and Serendipity Floral, or full-priced tickets can also be purchased on the evening of the event.
