Something spooky this way comes

Witches and ghouls, skeletons and zombies, your time has come again. This year’s Halloween in Sundance will bring two chances to make the most of the season, whether you’re young, old or undead.

For the second year, the Trunk or Treat event will be taking place in the Sundance High School parking lot, followed by the Halloween Kids Carnival in the Sundance High School Gym, hosted by the volleyball and girls’ basketball teams.

Dress up in your finest and tour the tasty treats between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., then head inside for a night of games, prizes and fun. The carnival goes on until 7 p.m. and will include a fortune teller, cake walk, face painting and cotton candy.

In need of something with a little more sustenance than your treat bucket has to offer? Enjoy a road kill or boo dog (pulled pork or hotdog) with crusty skin (chips), a coffin cookie and pond scum (water).

A costume contest will be held at 5:30 p.m. and jackpot prizes will be drawn hourly, with a wristband for unlimited play on the games handed out every 15 minutes.

Don’t worry if you’re an adult reveler – you’ll get your chance for tricks and treats too. The Crook County Museum will be once again picking up its mantle as the spookiest place in town with an opportunity for trick or treaters of any age to brave a walk through the haunted museum.

Old Stoney will be the venue for the “Night at the Museum” event on Halloween itself, October 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. Grab a treat and steel yourself to find out what’s waiting for you inside – it’s free for all ages.
