August 31, 1922

A large number of people from Sundance and vicinity attended the old settlers' picnic and dance at Carlile Saturday. They all report a good gathering and exceptionally good time.

Having weathered the financial crisis of the past eighteen months, the Sundance State Bank is now better than ever prepared to care for its patrons. As evidence of returning prosperity, this strong institution announces a reduction in the interest rate to 8 percent except in the case of small or short time loans.

E. L. Blodgett of Lead has been in Sundance for the past two weeks in the interest of the Willys lighting plant. He has prospects of installing several plants here, notably for the State Bank, Zane hotel and Fawkes pharmacy and probably will place one for the new high school building and the courthouse.

September 4, 1947

After two years of work by the Pine Tree Homemakers Club of Hulett and other interested parties, the people of Hulett are going to have moving pictures in their community. Last week Mrs. Neil Bush, president of the club, announced that anew sound movie projector will be installed at the high school for use during the present school term. The people of the community as well as high school students will be given the opportunity to enjoy educational and entertainment films.

Earl Vance of the Radiant Cleaners, Sundance, announced this week that that establishment had recently installed dry cleaning equipment that enables them to do all their work on the premises and thus allow them to give the usual three-day cleaning service and 24-hour emergency service.

Two students of Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa, became the fifth party to make an official climb up Devils Tower without the use of a ladder Tuesday when they made the ascent up the south side of the rock and return in 7-1/2 hours, it is reported by Raymond W. McIntyre. The youths were members of the Sierra Club, and were Art Gilkey and Dave Loomis.

The Subway Sandwiches and Salads® chain will be opening in Sundance September 1. The new restaurant will be located at 423 Cleveland Street, together with The Country Cottage. Steven and Kathy Lenz, owners of the new restaurant, are excited about their new venture.
